Statement of Professional Philosophy of Helping
When people ask me about my hobbies, I always include my love of volunteering. When asked why I work, I answer that it is for "smiles" from those I serve, not money. To me, the desire for the other person to have their greatest chance at a good, healthy, fulfilling life is why I went into the Human Services major. It is why I help.
I come from a very big, very close family. My family has always gone out of their way to keep communication open so that, when someone is in need, they can receive support, resources, and love from those that know them best. Through this background, I have developed the need to be personable and authentic with everyone I meet. That is how I help.

Statement of Professional Purpose
The purpose behind why I work in this field is very much a reflection of my philosophy of helping. That said, I also have particular interests in where I express these desires. I am not ashamed to admit that my faith plays a large role. Born and raised Catholic, working for the Church to spread God's love and healing power is something I would love to do. Added to that, the Catholic Church is the leading resource and relief services provider in the world.
I am also proud to say that I am no exceptions, Pro-Life. This stance includes being against abortion, euthanasia, infanticide, genocide, death penalty, and legal, assisted suicide. If I could save just one individual from the horrors of preemptive killing--that would be my greatest lifetime accomplishment.

Organization of Portfolio
This Capstone Portfolio will have three sections. The first section is all about my Culminating Project, a self-designed project reflecting a variety of skills I have honed and mastered while in the Human Services program. The second section is based solely on the CSHSE Standards #11-20, which focus on Systems, Indirect Services, Direct Services, and Ethics and Values. The third and final section focuses on the institutional and program outcomes of Western Washington University and the Human Services department in relation to technology, writing proficiency, and critical thinking.
As an added bonus, there is also a separate disAbility Studies section located next to the Capstone Portfolio tab that I invite everyone to look at, which shares different experiences and lessons I learned from through the Special Education department at Western Washington University, and a Peru section, detailing some of my favorite moments from my trip abroad.
